100 Word Challenge #22

This week’s story is based on this image:

« That picture was taken in the summer of ’69. » I had told her from across the room as she fixated her gaze on the one man in the middle of that picture, somewhat puzzled. « His name is Jay Gatsby » I explained. « People always told stories about how he chose to live his life, no-one really knows anything « real » about him though. Some say he was a conman, others a hero. There’s a fine line between love and hate, but he could make you feel both of ’em at once, in the most intense way imaginable. » « Ugh, what baloney » she replied. »

A big thank you to Valeska from 3A for doing this during the holidays – that’s motivation for you 🙂

This week…

…is the holidays!!

Don’t forget you can still practice your English by watching your favourite film in V.O., or checking out some websites like British council teens or check out a blog on your favourite sport.

If you enjoy writing then you can help me out.

I need someone to send me a story in one hundred words about this picture:

What about me? This week I’ll be training for my next marathon, marking all the work you did last week, catching up on my homework (remember I’m a student too!) and planning some fun activities for next half-term.

Whatever you are doing this holiday – ENJOY IT!

See you soon,

Fab!

100 Word Challenge Week #21

Here’s Benjy’s story for this week’s challenge;

It was in 1998 , lots of people were fed up of losing one sock everytime their mother washed them.Everybody was angry and meetings were held across the country to find an answer, even the president came. Everybody made their own proposition. One person wanted to stop washing socks , another suggested not wearing them but no ideas were good . It was a big problem. We voted and finally it was decided to  make socks which were magnetized and everybody was happy, but the problem was then they were too expensive so the state gave them to everybody.

This Week…

valentines

To celebrate Valentine’s day this Friday we’re going to have a LOVEly time in English class!

CM1 will talk about what animals CAN and CAN’T do,

CM2 will revise the Past and tell a story,

6ème will look at frequency adverbs and talk about TV,

5ème will look at superlatives and the future, and they have a test on Friday (Valentine’s day present?!),

4ème will look at future obligations and have a test too. I’ll put up your American history timeline in room 8,

3ème will be talking about what they know about Scotland and as I know how much some of you LOVE writing, you’ll be doing an expression on Friday!

Class 4èmeA are doing the 100 word challenge this week, but everyone is welcome to join in. This week’s prompt is :

… meetings were held across the country to find an answer…..

So think of a problem, who you would invite to the meeting to solve it and what the answer would be. Remember to write 100 words plus the prompt, so about 110 this week.

Have a fun Valentine’s week, remember your fab Englishteacher loves chocolate 😉 and…

Roses are Red,

Violets are Blue,

Sugar is Sweet,

and English is good for you!

100 Word Challenge #20

This week’s entry is by Carlos from class 3A:

After an amazing afternoon on the beach, we were very tired and wanted to come back home, but we didn’t know the way back and we got lost in the beach.

Suddenly, we found a man that was hiding, we asked him why was he hiding, he answered that he was an alien that was being searched by NASA, because they wanted to eat him, apparently alien meat was delicious and very nutritious.

We felt bad for him so we decided to protect him.

Later that night, he told us to look at his spaceship, but all we could see was water, then he disappeared.

This Week…

Sorry to tell you about this week so late but I’ve just got back from a VERY LONG DAY at a football tournament!

This week the CM1 will be learning how to talk about animals.

CM2 will be using the past tense,

6ème will be looking at daily routines,

5ème will revise obligations and quantities for their test,

4ème will continue studying American history and prepare their timeline in Room 8,

I can’t wait to see the adverts ( posters AND at least one film!) that the 3ème are preparing. I wonder how our « peer marking » system will work.

The anglophone class will continue our study on Shakespeare and Star Wars, a fascinating combination!

DON’T FORGET – to give the TRINITY & CAMBRIDGE reply slips to the secretary this week, to register for your exams.

The 100 word challenge is for class 3A this week, but anyone can join in if they want, the prompt this week is to include the following words somewhere in the text…

… but all we could see was water…

Anyway, I’m sure you’re all in bed by now (that’s where I’m heading in a minute!) so you can read this tomorrow.

As always, have a great week!
